Dancers’ Information

This is a general information page to help Dance groups in completing the online performer application.

What style of Dance?

The Festival wants to have an artistic program that showcases dance styles from all cultures and for all abilities.

What type of Dances?

Gala Dance
These are special events that run in the evening such as, for example, the Colonial Ball, Irish Ceili, and Scottish Ball. Gala Dances are 4 hours in length.

Dance
These last 1 ½ to 3 hours and are held both during the day and the evening. Examples include The Afternoon Tea Dance, Tango Dance, Salsa Dance, Bollywood Bush Dance, Contra Dance, Cajun and Zydeco Dances. We are particularly interested in dances that are inclusive of all levels of dance, from beginner to advanced.

Dance Workshops
Most workshops run for 1 ½ hours, although some workshops of one hour may be considered. Once again, we are in need of a good spread of skill levels, from total beginners to advanced dancers

Dance Display
Dance Displays are 30 minutes in duration. This time period includes set-up and pack-down. We are interested in dance display troupes that reflect the diversity of cultures that make up Australian society.

Morris Busking Sides

Morris sides applying to be part of our Street Dance Program should mark the box Street Dance on page two of the Application Page. Busking Morris sides are allocated 10 Performer passes per team. Street Dancing sides and Street Choir groups are not eligible for Discounted Family tickets. Please read the Street Dance Information Page.

Dance Band
This section is for both specialist dance bands (Irish Ceili, Cajun etc) and bands who play for free form dancing for late night rages. If your Band is to be used for a specific event ie: The Colonial Ball, please include this information in the comments section at the bottom of page 4 in the application.

Numbers of Dancers in your Act
Due to budgetary and site restrictions, large dance troops are limited to twenty ticketed performers. Troupes larger than that will need to negotiate with the Artistic Director.
