Tradition Bearers

About Tradition Bearers

Visiting Tradition Bearers have a history of demonstrating and skill sharing participation at the National Folk Festival every Easter

Artists involved as Tradition Bearers create and teach crafts such as:

Woodcraft, felt craft, weaving with looms, different mediums of silk, wool and cotton dying, traditional Aboriginal art, pottery, jewellery, sketching, origami, glass art – to name just a few as a part of our Community Arts Program.

Community Arts

Our Community Arts precinct is a vibrant and energetic hub where Festival patrons gather to enjoy a wide variety of art and craft experiences. The area is active from 9.30 am – 5.00 pm daily. Community Arts holds both structured workshops and ongoing community art activities.

What we ask of our Tradition Bearers

  • To demonstrate craft for the public to view and or purchase from an allocated venue
  • To hold workshops for 1 to 1.5 hours each day in our Community Arts Area

What we offer Tradition Bearers

  • A site plus suitable sized marquee venue in which to demonstrate display and sell their wares
  • An opportunity to pass on their art/craft to festival attendees ranging in ages from approximately 10 to 80 years of age
  • Season passes for 4 people involved in demonstrating and holding workshops for the NFF
  • A chance to enjoy the amazing experience and atmosphere of our National Award winning festival and all it has to offer

If you were interested in attending next year’s festival as a Tradition Bearer we would love to hear from you as soon as possible.

Victoria is the Feature State for 2011 so it is a great opportunity for you to showcase your art/craft as a Victorian.
