Just make sure you pack a hat and sunscreen. In the evenings the temperature cools down to around 7°C, so make sure you bring a coat or jumper to keep you warm.

Healthy Festival Hints

Be Sun Safe - Whilst temperatures may be dropping, UV levels in Canberra during Easter are still moderate to high thus sun protection is still recommended. So whilst enjoying this years Festival remember to:

  • Wear a hat that protects your face, head, neck and ears
  • Apply 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen. Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards. Free sunscreen is available at the Kids Festival, Piazza and the Festival Office.
  • Wear sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible
  • Wear your sunglasses (that meet Australian standards); and
  • Seek shade wherever possible

Avoid the Chill - The nights can be chilly so bring a warm jumper or jacket if you plan on staying late.

Drink Water - Keeping your fluids up is important when spending the day outside. Water is available from most stalls or why not bring a water bottle from home.

Enjoy the Fresh Air and Be SmokeFree - The Kids Festival and the AXIS! Youth venue are designated as smoke free. There are outdoor eating areas in both of these precincts

Be Active - There’s so much to see and do at the Festival, so enjoy walking around to take it all in. Walking is a great way to be physically active. Don’t forget the opportunity to join in the dancing too another fantastic form of physical activity!
