Disability Services
The National Folk Festival welcomes visitors, performers and volunteers with disabilities. Primary carers will be admitted free of charge when accompanying a disabled person who is carrying a Companion card issued by their State or Territory government.
Accessibility
All venues on the Festival site are accessible except Building E, Childcare and the Long Room. In the Link Building, (between the Coorong and Budawang pavilions) a lift provides access to Lost Property Room.
Disability Services Information Tent
During the Festival information about services and facilities for disabled people is available from the Disability Services Information Tent, which is located just inside the Flemington Road gate behind the Quokka Pavillion. Volunteers at Disability Services are also available to assist disabled visitors during their visit. Disability Services can be contacted prior to, and during, the Festival, on 0406 375 694.
Parking
Disabled parking is available:
Cars using the disabled parking spaces must display a government-issued disabled parking sticker. This can be from any state or territory.
Toilets and showers – wheelchair accessible
Camping
The Cotter Campground amenity blocks and the amenity block beside the Kosciusko / Farmer’s market building both have wheelchair accessible toilets and showers. Disabled people and those with a medical condition who require a powered site to run medical equipment should submit a Disabled Camping & Animal Registration Form and send it to production (at) folkfestival.asn.au.
Guide dogs
No animals, pets, or companion animals are allowed on the Festival site except for:
- guide dogs
- hearing dogs
- assistance animals: that is, an animal that has been trained to assist a person to alleviate the effect of their disability
All guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance animals must be on a lead at all times while on the Festival site.
Note that persons with guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance animals may be liable for any injury, loss, or damage caused by their assistance animal while it is on the Festival site.
If you are bringing a Guide Dog, Hearing Dog or Assistance Animal onsite, please submit a Disabled Camping & Animal Registration Form.
Wheelchair hire
Wheechairs (manual only) can be loaned for up to 4 hours. They are available at Disability Services. It is advisable to book them in advance, (especially if required on Saturday or Sunday), by calling 0406 375 694. If you contact in advance we can also arrange to meet you at your car with the wheelchair.
Electric scooter re-charging and storage
Visitors with electric scooters can re-charge and store them overnight in a secure location. Contact Disability Services for details.
Rest area
Visitors who need to rest during their visit can use a daybed in a private area at Disability Services.
First Aid
The Festival is attended by St John Ambulance during the day. The Festival also has trained First Aid officers rostered on duty most of the time and during the evening when St John Ambulance is not available.
Hearing loops
The Budawang and Fitzroy pavilions have hearing loops.
