In its submission to the Federal Government, the National Folk Festival strongly supported the Government’s intention to develop a national cultural policy. The submission said that understanding and preserving our cultural heritage and creating an environment in which it can evolve, in a way which is creative, dynamic and innovative, should be an integral component of a national cultural policy.
The submission also said that a national cultural policy framework also provides an opportunity to better align cultural policy with other national policy agendas such as education (for example, the development of national curricula for history and the arts) and social cohesion.

The Organising Committee are seeking expressions of interest from people interested in giving a presentation on an aspect of folklore. For more information see the National Folklore Conference webpage.
