Located at Exhibition Park, Canberra

Exhibition Park is a purpose designed festival site in north Canberra at the corner of Northbourne Avenue and Flemington Road in Mitchell. We take it over and make it a village for the Easter holidays, with food, drink, dance and music. It really is a world of its own with its own singular atmosphere.

From Sydney you just head south on the Hume Highway, turn on to the Federal Highway and then turn right into Wells Station Road when you hit the outskirts of Canberra. There will be signs by the road side.

From Melbourne take the Hume Highway north, turn on to the Barton Highway just after Yass, follow the signs to Mitchell and then take Flemington Road and follow the signs by the side of the road.

Most of the programmed concert and dance venues are indoors so cold or wet weather just means we dash faster between venues. There is ample parking at the Main Entrance off Wells Station Road. The site is well serviced with toilets, showers, public telephones and camping space. EFTPOS facilities are available in the Festival shop (and ticket office) which will be selling CDs, cassettes, books etc.

What else: The Festival Office: located in the link building between the Budawang and Coorong pavilions, this is your place for directions and other assistance.

Food & Drink: The Festival has a range of carefully selected food stalls ranging from sit down restaurants to on the go snacks and non alcoholic drinks. In addition there are three bars selling Coopers beers and two wine bars. No dagwood dogs - it’s terrific food (we live there too, for the festival, and we like our tucker).

Instrument Makers: A separate area is set aside for the makers of handmade musical instruments. The makers are there to talk to, and the instruments are available for you to try out every day during the Festival.

Childcare Facilities: A childcare facility operates on site each day during the afternoon and evening at reasonable rates. So bring the kids and we’ll look after them for you for a limited time.

Kid’s Festival: There is a separate festival inside the main event designed especially for the younger audience, with carefully chosen performers and activities appropriate for entertaining the younger people.

Craft Market: The National has true crafts from Australians of all backgrounds. The Festival has a wide variety of stalls selling and demonstrating crafts of all types.
